The struggle is real.
Finding your first and maybe your only customer.

Three full months of finding productive things to do has been in some way frustrating and in other ways very liberating. No made up funnel to fill with unqualified leads, no searching SAM.gov looking for fringe opportunities to attach a generic technology to, no "leadership" to try hard to make happy. Actually, thinking about it, its been kind of nice.
Some of the things I am doing to find work?
Convinced myself that I can start my own business.
Came up with a business name, paid for this web domain, and built this website.
Reconnected with buddies, old work associates, and connected with new people on LinkedIn.
Trying to touch base with at least two people a day to be positive with.
Started reading even more than I did while I was employed - because I have the time.
Studying Software as a Service business models.
Designed a large scale sensor network that uses Edge Compute to analyze the data at the Edge.
Designed a product for scavenging energy in austere environments.
Creating content for other small companies for LinkedIn and Online Shops.
Trying to be helpful to other business owners by promoting their products. (Unbeknownst to them)
Sure there have been a bunch of other things - I'm trying to eat better, my gym time has increased significantly, and I am practicing mindfulness. The process of learning is only good if you are actually paying attention and as I start this small business - I am paying attention.
I look around and I see opportunities everywhere to help businesses and organizations but admiring the problem - is the problem. I have a skillset that is valuable - but in the Military Industrial Complex - the self-aggrandizing groans of empty-headed zombies shuffling down the tradeshow Broadway is deafening. To be a quiet professional - is to be a poor professional I guess.
But if you made it this far - I sure hope you have had a great day - until next time.
